Founded in 1997, the mission of the Evanston Dance Ensemble is to bring the artistry and excitement of dance to our community using a corps of talented young dancers and to further the training of these dedicated dancers by providing them with an opportunity to work with professional choreographers, designers and guest dancers in high quality theatrical productions.
In residence at Dance Center Evanston, the Ensemble produces a mainstage production every year, with works ranging from story ballets, to book adaptations, to stylistically diverse compilations. In addition, EDE performs at many venues throughout the Chicagoland area, including Dance Chicago, the Evanston Public Library, and with the Evanston Symphony Orchestra.
Co-Artistic Director and Founder: Béa Rashid
Co-Artistic Director, Christina Ernst

With too many talented dancers to fit into one company, EDE has created a new company, ede2, which will take its own special performance out into the community. Led by its Artistic Director, Allison Kurtz Volkers, ede2 will present Once and Ever After: dances inspired by our favorite fairy tales.
